Hot Springs Community Spaghetti Supper will start again October 6, 2012

After our usual summer hiatus, Hot Spring's Community Spaghetti Supper will begin serving spaghetti, vegetables, garlic bread, and salad again on October 6, 2011. The entire schedule is below, and it is also on the  calendar on the right side of this page. If it has to be cancelled due to weather or any other unforeseen event, we will post a notice here no later than mid-afternoon before the scheduled supper.

We hope to see you there. Remember, its free, however donations are gratefully accepted.

As usual, it will be at the United Churches, at 342 N. Garden St., Hot Springs, South Dakota, in the lower level. It is across the river from the theater. (Map)

Spaghetti supper cancelled for February 24

Due to the weather in Hot Springs, the Community Spaghetti Supper has been cancelled for tonight, February 24. As this is written at 10 a.m. we have at least six to seven inches of snow on the ground and it is still coming down. The National Weather Service predicts another two to three inches before 5 p.m. today, by which time the temperature should be 9 degrees with a wind chill of 7 below zero. All that combined with the slippery roads makes it a good night for us all to stay safe and warm at home.

Weather permitting, we hope to see you next week, March 3. Bring your appetite.

Spaghetti suppers to start again on October 7, 2010

The volunteers that put on the community Spaghetti Supper are pleased to announce that October 7, 2010 will mark the beginning of the new Spaghetti Supper season. As usual, it will be on Thursday evenings from 4:30 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the United Churches, 342 N. Garden Street in Hot Springs, SD. The Supper will occur weekly through April 28, 2011 with the exception of Thursdays that occur near major holidays. The complete schedule is below, as well as on the calendar on the right.

Spaghetti supper season ends

The Hot Springs Spaghetti Supper season has ended. The last supper, so to speak, was April 29. We always take a hiatus during the summer because the volunteers and the people who enjoy the meal have many other activities going on during the long summer days.

We would like to thank for their support over the last seven months:

• The workers who put in many, many hours preparing the food, coming in on Wednesday and Thursday, cooking the meat for the sauce, cutting up the nine ingredients that go into the salad, slicing the bread, cooking the pasta, toasting the bread, and fixing the string beans and spaghetti sauce.
• The workers who serve the food on Thursday evening and then stay and clean up and wash dishes.
• The community members of Hot Springs who come and enjoy the nutritious meal.
• The great people without whose donations the spaghetti supper could not exist.

The spaghetti supper will start up again in the fall, on October 7 and will go through April . As usual, it will be on Thursday evenings from 4:30 until 6:00 p.m. We hope to see you then.

Welcome to the Hot Springs Spaghetti Supper

We have created this web site to provide information about the community spaghetti supper that is held on Thursday evenings from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the United Churches, at 342 N. Garden St., Hot Springs, South Dakota from October through April.

If inclement weather requires that the supper be canceled, we will post that information here. Or if it will not be held due to a conflict, such as a holiday, we will let you know.

A dedicated group of volunteers have been putting on the supper since the event began in 1994. The goal is to provide a good, nutritious meal at no cost, however goodwill donations are accepted. The entire funding for the spaghetti supper comes from donations.

The supper is held in the lower level of the United Churches. Enter through the large double wooden doors, then bear to the right and go down the stairs.
